China and U.N.
Sir, —Your cartoon by “Papas” in Wednesday’s newspaper of what looked like Chairman Mao depicted as a flower, shows just how far the news media will sink in order to portray their superiority qver anything Chinese. Actually the Chinese have many friends round the world, and in their stupid act in keeping the Chinese out of the United Nations the Americans, Australians, and New Zealanders, among others, are in fact isolating themselves, not China. Then, to make it worse, a two-thirds majority is needed before China is admitted. Fancy over 700 million people being controlled by a third of that number in the imperialist countries. — Yours, etc., P.J.A. November 20, 1970.
