PLAQUE FOR CEMETERY
Camp Bay site memorial The installation of a granite plaque to be built into a memorial seat at the Camp Bay.cemetery was approved by the Mount Herbert County Council yesterday. The wording on the plaque will be approved by the National Historic Places Trust, and will record the use of the cemetery between 1851 and 1877, when Camp Bay was an immigrants’ quarantine station. The plaque will cost $51.75, and the seat will be built by a Camp Bay farmer, Mr P. H. Stapyiton-Smith. Bus Shelter.—Disappointment was expressed that New Zealand Railways Road Services had refused to replace the Governor’s Bay bus shelter, or to help pay for a new one. It was decided to ask for reconsideration. . Bluegum.—On a complaint by Mr P. L. Mortlock, it was decided to tell Mr O. Sage that no-one had the right to interfere with biuegum trees on the Queen’s chain foreshore at Paradise Bay.
