Trotting doubles
Sir, —Why db Christchurch trotting clubs run the second leg of the off-course double on the trotters’ event so often? With many other good fields available a second leg on one of the pacing events would be a welcome change. —Yours, etc., VARY IT. November 18, 1970. [The secretary of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club (Mr D. C. Parker), replies: “The committee chose the trotters' races as the second leg of the main doubles because the fields would be known throughout the country.”]
