Ward going home
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BRISBANE.
The Derbyshire fast bowler, A. Ward, will leave Australia tomorrow morning, the M.C.C. manager (Mr D. Clark) said yesterday. Ward broke down in the match against New South Wales last Saturday with an injured right leg, and an Xray examination revealed a slight fracture of the fibula. He was ordered to take a
complete rest for four weeks and as a result it was decided to replace him. R. D. G. Willis, of Surrey, the man selected to take his place, is due in Brisbane shortly before Ward leaves.
Willis will be given a few days to acclimatise, but could find himself in action next Wednesday when the M.C.C. travels to Redlands for a oneday game against the Queensland Country XI.
