Long service recognised

Mr F. J. Gorton, a member of the council of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society for 24 years, including eight years as president, last evening was presented with Buller’s “Birds of New Zealand” at his last official attendance at a council meeting. The president (Mr N. I. Voyce) expressed the council’s appreciation for the work Mr Gorton had done for sportsmen. He said Mr Gorton was extremely devoted to all aspects of the society. Dr M. McK. Dickson and Mr G. W. Thompson, the two longest-serving members of the council, both spoke commending the work of Mr Gorton, and the chairman of the various committees also
