Wool trend down
Wool values continued to slide when the second Tlmaru sale was held yesterday. Halfbred and Merinos showed a further easing of about 21 per cent, but there were fewer passings of -derino wools. The finer crossbreds tended to be easier, but the medium crossbreds held their ground and the coarser sorts made a fractional gain. However, at the lew rates at present ruling, with most fleece wool selling between about 23c and 36c, there was a reasonably good inquiry, with about 95 per cent or more of the season’s wool going into consumption. The Wool Commission, however, had to supplement some Merino and halfbred wools and while no details are available of the proportion of wool supplemented, it is known that in some cases the supplements on the Merino amounted to several cents per lb.
