(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright > BONNEVILLE SALT FILATS ■ (Utah).

After a mid-week accident which caused his vehicle to roll 20 times, C. Raybom returned to Bonneville yesterday and set a land speed record for motor-cycles. Raybom, of San Diego, California, had a two-way average speed of 255.373 miles an hour through the measured mile, a new world record by about 4 m.p.h. On Monday, Raybom was attempting to stop his 1480 c.c. Harley Davidson when it flipped over when going about 40 m.p.h. and rolled 20 times along the salt flats. He was not injured, largely because he was protected bv the cigar-shaped body which envelopes the big motorcycle. The previous record, 251.924 m.p.h., was set on September 18 by D. Vesco of El Cajon, California, on a 700 c.c. .Yamaha. .
