Kendall leads Wills golf

SYDNEY. The New Zealand golfer, T. Kendall, yesterday snatched the secondround lead in the $20,000 Wills Masters tournament with a three-under-par 69, giving him a lead of one stroke over R. Wilson, of Sydney.
Kendall had five birdies yesterday. Another New Zealand player, B. Boys, had a 69. His and Kendall’s were the best scores of the day. Kendall, who had a 71 on Thursday, just missed a 12ft birdie putt on the eighteenth
hole which would have given him a two-stroke lead before the third round.
Wilson’s fighting 72 included two eagles. Two strokes behind Kendall on 142 are B. Barnes (Britain), who had a 71 yesterday, and G. Knudson (Canada), the defending champion, who carded a 70.
Two players are on 144. They are A. Palmer (New Zealand), and R. Vines (Queensland), who both had 72 yesterday. B. Devlin is one of six playerd on 148; He crashed yesterday with a 78. Boys is also on a total of 146. Kendall’s first half of 34 included birdies op the third and seventh holes, and Boys did the first nine in a similar score with birdies on the first, third, and ninth holes. New Zealand’s W. Godfrey survived the cut-off with a 72 to his 75 for a total of 147.
