Mining market retreats as buyers withdraw
Buyers withdrew from the Australian mining and oil market yesterday morning, but there was greater activity during the last hour of trading and prices showed a tendency to rally. At the close, however, most issues were down on the day or steady.
International Mining lost 30c to 600 c and Kathleen Investments slipped 90c to 1430 c. Queensland Mines fell 100 c to 3900 c and Poseidon was down 100 c to 8100 c.
M.I.M. Holdings slipped 10c to 490 c, and Peko fell 30c to 1400 c. 1 J { Among the stocks to firm, Hamersley improved 20c to 700 c and Renison was 20c higher at 1120 c. Oils were mixed, with Santos 10c higher at 300 c. Industrials were little changed on the day.
