Syndication of mare
(N-Z. Press Association) WANGANUI. Th* good mare, Ann Gable, is being syndicated for $lOO,OOO as a racing and breed* ing proposition. This was an* nounced yesterday by Mr B. Kennedy, acting under instructions from the mare's owner, Mr P. Smith. Mr Smith, who also bred the mare, will be a major shareholder along with the recent Matamata jackpot winner, Mr P. Moran. Ann Gable, will give an exhibition gallop for Mr Moran at Hawera on Tuesday and the syndicate is expected to be signed up soon after. Stallion syndication is freely pursued in New Zealand but the Ann Gable venture represents the first time it has applied to a New Zealand mare. Ann Gable, by Le Filou from Avon Lea, was an outstanding four-year-old last, season. She won seven races, the last five in succession. Ann Gable was entered for this year’s Melbourne Cup but instead, she will concentrate on the Wellington and Auckland Cups. She is already in training with W. McEwan at Hawera. Though her future racing will be done on a company basis Ann Gable will still remain in the McEwan stable at Hawera.
