Meeting At Westport
(From Our Own Reporter) WESTPORT. The Westport Jockey Club is to hold a special meeting tonight to consider the direction of the Trotting Conference on minimum stakes for trotting events. The club has always included two maiden trotting races daily at its meetings with stakes of $4OO. It is felt that the increase to $550 may be difficult to meet and it would be reasonable for owners to expect higher stakes for maiden and hack galloping events. The club has its programme for the October meeting ready: for release and the new position* has it worried.
