Must Go Home
The 19-year-old All Black wing, B. A. Hunter, has been refused permission to remain in South Africa after the departure of the team next Monday, reports T. P. McLean from Pretoria.
Hunter wanted to further his athletic career, and in association with the Bellville track and field club ih Cape Town, believed he could reduce his half-mile time from Imin 51.5 sec to Imin 48sec before returning to New Zealand to defend his national title next March.
The All Blacks manager (Mr R. L. Burk), to whom Hunter made application, conferred with the New Zealand Rugby Union, before advising Hunter that in terms of the tour agreement between the New Zealand and South Africa, he must go home with the team.
Hunter is now hopeful that some South African Rugby or athletics club will assist him to return to South Africa soon after the All Blacks return.
