S.I. CYCLE TITLES
A blustery north-west wind made riding difficult for cyclists competing in road races at Rakaia on Saturday, when the senior and junior 100 kilometre South Island titles were contested.
The meeting was run by the Tinwald Cycling Club. A Tinwald rider. E. Read, won the senior title in 2hr 4tain 23;2sec. He was the only rider off scratch to finish the race in which one cyclist, C. Yaxley, was blown off his machine, crashed heavily, and required medical treatment. T. Hartill (Greymouth) finished second. The 100 kilometre Lisle Cup, run in conjunction with the championship event, was won bv Hartill.
Another Tinwald rider, P. Wylie, won the junior too kilometre South Island championship in 2hr 50min 30sec. Results:
