FITTERS’ STRIKE
Decision To Continue
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 6. Auckland freezing works fitters decided today to continue their strike, but will meet again on Tuesday. Other unions, it is understood, will be invited to attend the meeting. After their meeting this morning with representatives of the Fitters’ Union, they met Freezing Workers’ Union officials.
More than 1000 freezing workers from the five works in the Auckland province have so far lost their jobs as a result of the strike. The 300 fitters, members of the En. gineers’ Union, stopped wn on Monday at what the claim was the employers’ re fusal to negotiate a wage increase.
