U.S. Road Deaths
A spate of traffic fatalities on Saturday pushed the death count for the United States 78hour Labour Day week-end to more than 100. The National Safety Council predicted that between 570 and 670 persons would die and that 23,000 to 27,000 would be injured on the nation’s roads at the week-end. At least 123 persons have been killed in traffic since the holiday began on Friday.—Washington, September 5.
