BURNSIDE MARKET

(N.Z. Press Association/

DUNEDIN, September 1. Values for heavy-weight bub locks improved about $4 a head at the Burnside stock market today. Other prime cattle were on a par with recent rates. At 273, the yarding was much smaller than the last sale. In the runner and vealer section, 85 were yarded, but the quality was not quite up to the usual standard. Values for med-ium-weights were up by $3, but others remained on a par. A yarding of 410 store cattle was 100 more than last week. The majority of the cattle had been well wintered. One line of two-year-old Angus cross steers realised $123, while another pen of yearling steers of the same breed sold for $BB. Only 53 pigs were offered. Quality was average, and prices were up $2 on previous sales. In the lamb yarding of IQII, there was quite a number of heavy-weights suitable for the trade. Over-all, prices were up 80c. There was again a light yarding of adult sheep, but at 1840 head it appeared to be ample for the trade. The quality of the hoggets was the poorest for some time. Values remained on a par with last week. Quotations were:—
