Postal Centre Delay Causes Concern
Coricem about the delays in the building of the new Christchurch Postal Centre were expressed by members of the council of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce last evening.
A letter expressing the chamber’s concern bad been the council was told discussing some of it in committee, it was decided to let a motion moved by Mr R C. Dunn lie on the table' until the next meeting, by which time a reply to the let-: ter might have been received. Mr Dunn had moved that the Postmaster-General (Mr McCreedy) be sent a copy of a letter from the previous Minister (Mr Scott) in which Mr Scott had given an assurance that there would be no further delays, and that the present Postmaster-General be asked why this asurance was not being adhered to. It seemed incredible that Christchurch was still waiting for the new Post Office complex, said Mr G. W. Hill. “I can remember plans being published in the newspapers before the war. We should express our very deep concern.”
