Earnings By Pensioners

Sir, —1 was a schoolboy during World War I, but 1 went overseas to have a look at World War 11. I wish to remind Mr E S. Henzel, registrar of the Social Security Department, and the readers of this column, that when young men volunteered for both world wars no mention was made of a means test In fact they were misled, because they were told in no uncertain manner when they returned they would be cared for and looked after. Many never returned. I know ’ many in our midst being treated like “Worried Sick"— penalised in their old age for disability due to war service. —Yours, etc., FLEMING ROSS MILLER. September 1, 1970.
