DOMESTIC HEATING
By-law Control Proposed.
A legal opinion on a clause in the New Zealand' standard model building by-laws said it would be possible for a local authority which had adopted the by-laws to withhold approval of open fireplaces burning solid fuels, the air pollution committee reported to the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority yesterday.
In 1966 the committee’s report recommended local oodies to adopt by-laws requiring domestic heating appliances installed in new and modernised premises to be approved types. The report had been adopted in principle by all local authorities in the metropolitan area. The authority agreed to tell local authorities about the committee’s opinion.
