UNIVERSITY VACANCIES LIBRARIAN BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES The University of Auckland Library APPLICATIONS are invited for the above position. Applicants should possess a university degree and professional library qualifications; as well as experience in a university or research library. Some knowledge of foreign languages is desirable, and preference will be given to applicants with science subjects in their degree. The Biological Sciences Library serves the departments of Botany, Cell Biology and Zoology, as well as the Marine Biological Research Station at Leigh. It has a total staff of three, a book stock of 2500 volumes, and subscriptions to 350 current serials. The Librarian is responsible for circulation, reference, interloan and allied services to staff and students, recommendations for ordering new books and serials, and the control, including cataloguing, of extensive reprint collections. Walker, head of department, Mr J. N. Jennings, professorial fellow in geomorphology) from January 1. 1971. Applicants should have proven capacity for independent research. Preference will be given to applicants with a particular interest in process studies, morphometry or other quantitative aspect of geomorphology. Facilities are available for field work in Australia, South-East Asia and the South-West Pacific. The salary range is 8A63188A8698 (x 8476) per annum. Appointment is for three years in the first instance, with possible extension to a maximum total of five years. Assistance with travel expenses and housing in Canberra is usually available. This degree is designed to meet the growing demand in New Zealand from commercial firms, Producer Boards and Government Departments for persons with an applied commerce-business man-agement-marketing training. READER/SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER IN FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (ACCOUNTING) LECTURER IN BUSINESS LAW Applicants who have had considerable experience in commerce are particularly sought. POSITION IN AGRICULTURE SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER IN AGRICULTURAL AND HORTICULTURAL PRODUCTION SYSTEMS The appointee will be required to develop and coordinate a three paper sequence of courses in the principles of Agricultural and Horticultural production including a study of the farm business for the degree in Agricultural Business and Administration to be introduced in 1971. THE UNIVERSITY OF PAPUA AND NEW GUINEA APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED for the following positions in the Accounts Branch of the University Administration. ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT The appointee will be responsible to the Accountant for the control of workflows to the NCR 33 Accounting Machine - and for the overall supervision of the Revenue, Expenditure, Pay and Relief Sections, including in-service training of staff. Recognised professional qualifications with experience in the management and development of mechanised accounting systems are required. BUDGETS OFFICER The appointee should have a wide background in accounting, costing or budgeting. He will be responsible to the Accountant for the detailed recording and reporting on some 300 budgetary items. In particular he will assist in the preparation of the University’s budget and will be responsible for providing prompt budgetary reports on salaries, research funds, and recurrent and capital works expenditures. SALARIES: -Assistant Account—As7243-A57707 per annum. Budgets Officer—Assl64-A55683 per annum. Plus As36o per annum marriage allowance and Assoo housing allowance for a married male appointee or As2oo per annum housing allowance for a single appointee. -For an outstanding applicant a higher salary may be negotiated.
