Escaped In Afternoon (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. August 21. A Mount Crawford prisoner is thought to have swallowed several razor blades as part of a successful escape plan. The prisoner, Louis Leslie John Harrison, aged 32, escaped from the Wellington Hospital X-ray department about 3.30 pjn. today. He had been sentenced in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court this morning to 18 months gaol for false pretences, pretences. A warder had taken him to the hospital because it was thought he may have swallowed razor blades, said the prison superintendent (Mr R. J MiUer). But, at the hospital, Harrison did not wait for an X-ray or treatment He escaped in the corridors. Police searched the hospital and its grounds, mounted mobile patrols in the Newtown area, and put checks on all exits from Wellington. However, late this evening, Harrison was still free.
