No Trial For U.S. Soldier

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) • WASHINGTON. August 20. The United States Army has dismissed charges against one of 12 soldiers accused of crimes in the alleged massacre of Vietnamese civilians at My Lai two years ago. The Army says that the evidence available against Staff - Sergeant Kenneth Hodges, aged 25, was insufficient to warrant referring the charges for trial by courtmartial.

Hodges was charged with rape, and with assault with intent to murder.
