THIEVES ACTIVE
Thieves who broke into John Burns and Company, Ltd, Montreal Street, on Wednesday night stole a safe containing about $3O. The safe, hacked open, was found in a dump in Jubilee Street, Radley. A wig, a radio and jewellery of a total value of $4BO were stolen when a house in Avalon Street, Richmond, was burgled on the same night. Cigarette lighters, an electric razor and 5000 cigarettes and a camera of a total value of $167 were taken from Mumford’s hairdressers, 268 Cashel Street
Electric drills, tools and fishing reels of a total value of $2lO were taken on Monday night from a Waiwetu Street, Fendalton, garage, and between Friday and Monday a .22 ten-shot automatic rifle worth $72 was taken from W. H. Tisdall, Ltd, 91 Cashel Street A camera worth $l9 was stolen on Monday night from a house in Gasson Street
