DIVISIONAL INSPECTION

Visit By Navy Commodore The Navy’s commodore at Auckland (Commodore J. P. S. Valiant) will visit Christchurch from September 4 to 8 to attend an R.N.V.R. commemorative service and to inspect the Canterbury division of the R.N.Z.N.V.R. at H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus. He will in addition make official calls on the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr A. R. Guthrey) and the chairman of the Lyttelton Harbour Board (Mr F. I. Sutton). Under the services reorganisation the operational control of Naxy ships on the New Zealand station, and all reserves, has passed from Wellington to the commodore at Auckland; it will be Commodore Valiant’s first official visit since the reorganisation.
