Sir,—We are constantly reminded how good we are at football. Granted, nobody plays harder, cleaner football, and who are we to begrudge them their half-time oranges? What a pity footballers are ; not as keen on their environ-

ment as on their football! As; a frequent walk-to-work enthusiast, I am disappointed to see football grounds in North Hagley Park littered with orange peel each Monday morning. Some teams have the good sense to collect the peel in plastic bags, but the vigours of the second half apparently drain them of the strength to take them away. Someone knows who plays on these grounds. Perhaps they could provide “peelless” oranges or persuade them to leave our parks in the condition that befits them.—Yours, etc., PIP. August 20, 1970.
