$3m For Subsidies
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 19. A supplementary estimate “in the order of 33m” would probably be brought to Parliament within two or three weeks for the economic stabilisation account, which covered Government subsidies on milk and eggs, the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon) told Parliament this morning.
He said that as far as be was aware there was no suggestion that the retail price of milk would be increased in this financial year. But he stressed that as Minister of Finance—not Agriculture—he could not give a categorical assurance that the price of milk would not be altered. The supplementary estimate will be in addition to the main estimate of 317 m, which was discussed by Parliament this morning.
