PONY CLUB RESULTS
The Halswell Pony Club’s open one-day event, held on Findlay’s Farm, provided a testing cross-country course. Most penalties were incurred at fence No. 3, a wire on the other side of a small ditch. The course was built to area-trial standard and the event run under New Zealand Horse Society rules. Neville Buckley, on Springtime, won the Gowie Challenge Cup for the best performance in class 1, and Elizabeth McGrath, with her mount,
Pharaoh, took the Odering Challenge Cup for the best performance by a rider under 17, Over-all placings were:
Under 21. —Neville Buckley’s Springtime, 1; Julie Turner’s Little Fella, 2; Ann Markae’s Phantom, 3. Under 17.—Elizabeth McGrath’s Pharaoh, 1; Roslyn Chisnail’s Shah, 2; Paulette Smith’s Sirocco, 3.
Under 15. —Jennifer Shand’s Ricochet, 1;, Jane Waters’ Master Simon, 2; Jocelyn Taylor’s Gyppy. 3.
