ENTRY TO AUSTRALIA

Call To Remove Restrictions (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug 19. Australia and New Zealand should remove all existing restrictions affecting the entry of each other’s citizens, the Prime Minister (Sir Keith Holyoake) has told the Labour M.P. for Northern Maori (Mr M. Rata). In a letter to Mr Rata, the Prime Minister said that restrictions should be broken down. “We propose to take up this matter again with the Australians at the highest level,” he said. New Zealand's restrictions on Australians of Asian origin entering New Zealand were much less exceptionable in their application than were Australian restrictions on New Zealanders of Asian or Island origin.
