Special Train For Band
(N.Z.P.A. Staff Correspondent) LONDON, July 28. A special train was provided and the route was kept clear at the week-end so the National Band of New Zealand could speed 140 miles from Edinburgh, in Scotland, to Middlesborough, in England, to take part in an Eisteddfod. The band completed its week-long appearance in Edinburgh at 4.15 p.m. on Sunday and was due on stage in Middlesborough at 8 p.m. Band officials investigated various means of overcoming the problem of shifting 54 bandsmen and their instruments in short time, and finally British Railways took up the challenge.
