Graduation Of Accountants

Too many professional men today were working toward their ultimate reward rather than for the good of those they served, Mr C. H. Perkins, a past president and life member of the Society of Accountants, said last evening. Mr Perkins was speaking at the graduation ceremony of 34 accountancy students who were admitted to the Canterbury branch of the society at a function at the City Council Chambers. Urging the new members to maintain the integrity of the profession and to give full support to the society, Mr Perkins said that accountants, as professional men, had to serve the community. “If a professional man accepts a task he must see it through, regardless of the reward. We are all entitled to our financial reward, but our primary object is to serve,” he said. “I hope accountants will continue to accept their share of work for the community in which we live.” The Deputy Mayor (Cr H.
