SHELLING ACCIDENT
N.Z. Sympathy Expressed (N.Z. Press Aam.—CopvriaM) CANBERRA, July 27. The New Zealand Government has expressed deepest sympathy to the relatives of the two Australian soldiers killed and the four others wounded in an accident at Nul Dat, South Vietnam, on July 21. The accident occurred when part of the fire from 161 Battery, R.N.Z.A., fell among an Australian patrol. The New Zealand High Commission announced tonight that the High Commissioner (Mr J. L. Hazlett) had personally expressed New Zealand's condolences to the Minister for Defence (Mr Malcolm Fraser). The head of the New Zealand defence liaison staff in Canberra (Air Commodore J. J McDowell) called on the Chief of the Australian General Staff (Lieutenant-General Sir Thomas Daly) immediately after news of the incident was received.
