Beer-drinking Record Claim

A young New South Wales timber-cutter is claiming an Australian beer-drinking record, beating that set last month by the Melbourne champion, Mr Thomas McInerney. Mr Eric Farr, aged 23, who drank 87 seven-ounce glasses of beer on Saturday, took II hours and 40 minutes to do so. Mr Mclnerney, aged 26, drank 81 seven-ounce glasses of beer on June 27. Mr Farr says he “lined” his stomach with a , half-cooked steak before setting out on his record-breaking attempt. His final intake was more than 3j gallons.
