Vaccination For Measles
More than 36,000 primary school children in the Christchurch health district will be vaccinated against German measles in the next four weeks as part of a national campaign by the Health Department The programme, which began in Christchurch yesterday, will apply to children from primer 1 to standard 4 and it is hoped that all the children will have been vaccinated by August 19. The Acting Medical Officer of Health in Christchurch (Dr R. B. Cossham) said yesterday that the response to the programme throughout New Zealand had been very good. About 90 per cent of the children eligible for vaccination would be vaccinated.
