COLOMBO PLAN
N.Z. Aircraft As Aid (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 26. New types of Colombo Plan assistance to the Governments of Indonesia and Thailand were announced by the Prime Minister (Sir Keith Holyoake). They are New Zealand-manufactured aircraft plus technical assistance and training awards, worth $460,000. Indonesia's main civil aviation flying school is being offered four Airtourer aircraft with spare parts sufficient for three years. The school is also being helped to establish a Search and Rescue organisation, and to interpret aerial photographs. A training award for the study of civil aviation administrative ; procedures is also proposed. Aircraft For Thailand : Thailand is being offeret two Fletcher aircraft for ar agricultural aviation training unit, and four Airtourers for the flying school at Hua Hin in Southern Thailand. Training awards and the servicer of flying instructors will ac I company the offer.
The general manager of Ail |Parts (N.Z.), Ltd, Mr G iSheltma, today welcomed thf news that the Government was buying two of his firm’s Fletcher aircraft in a foreign aid programme for Thailand “We’ve known about this for three or four months, but this is the first official confirmation we've had,” he said
