Education Week Displays Held
It was “open house” at many Christchurch schools yesterday when parents and members of local committees were invited to special displays and programmes held at schools as part of Education Week.
And in a department store in the city, a group of intermediate school pupils took part in cooking, metalwork and woodwork demonstra tions. In a “Maths for Mums” programme held at the Horticultural Hall parents were shown how children use and learn with a complex range of structural materials, now considered an essential part of the
new mathematics curriculum in schools. At the Canterbury Museum, education officers conducted members of the public round various displays. A special, chartered flight organised by the Play Centre Federation took some community and educational leaders to Darfield view rural preschool facilities. This light aircraft tour is proposed to be held again today.
