“University For Love” Idea

(N.Z Press Assn.—Copyright) BUDAPEST, July 14. Hungarian police say they have caught a man who posed as a university admission official, promising young girl students—who failed to pass his “preliminary entrance tests”—“acceptance”

by the university in exchange for love.

The Hungarian Communist Party paper “Nepszabadsag” said today that the man is Tibor Molnar, aged 26, married, a public road overseer in Budapest He will go on trial soon.

With an eye on the pretty, mini-skirted candidates for the Karl Marx School of Economics, Molnar hit upon his “university for love” idea late in June, when many lecture rooms were deserted because of the summer vacation, the Associated Press said. He set up shop in a corridor leading to a room where entrance examinations were taken, putting up a sign which read: “Social and political exams taken here.” There he intercepted goodlooking girl candidates on their way to the exam room, and told them: “This way to the preliminary exam.” He put tricky questions about world affairs, then poo-poohed their replies, saying: “This would not get you into university, my good girl—but there are ways and means . . .

"There are even ways of wangling scholarships, free meals, etc., once you are in. 1 can pull strings if I want to,” Molnar told the girls, according to “Nepszabadsag.” He then made love-affair

proposals in exchange for alleged backstage university manoeuvrings in the girls’ favour.

“Nepszabadsag” said the girls did not accept these proposals. Three days later, one girl candidate appeared with a wrestler-like father. “This is the man,” she said, pointing to Molnar. Her father promptly lifted Molnar out of his armchair and handed him over to plainclothes police.
