N.Z. Firm Wins Aust. Contract
Ml. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 18. An Auckland construction company, McConnell Dowell Constructors, Ltd, has won a $320,000 contract to lay gas pipelines for the City of Geelong Gas Company, Victoria. The contract, won in the face of stiff competition from Australian companies, involves laying gas pipes varying in diameter from Sin to 14in. Much of the special equipment required for the contract was built in the company’s own workshops. AU the specialist personnel will be New Zealanders.
Tarawera Brings Oranges. —The Union Steam Ship Company’s motor vessel Tarawera, which arrived at Lyttelton from Wellington yesterday morning, brought 10,840' cases of Victorian oranges for local discharge.
