TESTS IN AUST.
Subject to Australia’s approval, New Zealand will meet its World Cup Australasian Zone, hockey opponent in three tests in Melbourne on August 20, 22 and 23. The secretary of the New Zealand Association (Mr W. Burtt) said last evening that his association was willing to play the elimination games in Australia, but had yet to hear fro mthe Australian secretary (Mr J. Pearce) since the individual states had not given their approval to the arrangement. The New Zealand team will be selected within a fortnight and a party of 14 players, an official and an umpire would travel to Melbourne. The team will leave on August 17 and will return on August 24, in time for the Rothmans national tournament which has been put back two days.
Soccer Final.—Denmark has won the world women's soccer championship, beating Italy, 2-0, In the final at Turin.
