Rex Consol. Doubles Machine Capacity
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 15. Group sales for Rex Consolidated, Ltd, Auckland, were up by 26 per cent for the three months to June 30, the managing director (Mr F. Bruell) told shareholders at the annual general meeting.
He was deputising for the chairman (Mr L. N. Ross) who is overseas.
As previously annount ed the company lifted group net profit by $64,383 to a record figure of $221,869. Increased domestic demand, Mr Brunell said, compounded by more frequent and larger export orders, had encouraged the company to continue the progressive automation of part of the plant. He said the company had nearly doubled its machine capacity in the field of plastic injection moulding. The extrusion of plastic profile for industry had now begun.
The costly extrusion plant was the most modern available and it became necessary to build larger premises. The development of overseas markets must continue as the company needed additional outlets for its increasing capacity, Mr Brunell said.
At the beginning of this month the company bought more than four acres of industrial land and buildings adjacent to its property in Otahuhu.
The company now owns 12 acres of land in Otahuhu. which ensures a permanent base for the group of companies, with ample room for expansion.
The Wiri property had been sold as the local council intended rezoning it as a quarry area.
