WESTRALIAN NICKEL
(N.Z. Pi ess Assn.—Copyright) PERTH, July 14. Westralian Nickel Exploration NL’s auger drilling programme at its Murphy Hills prospects has been encouraging and his indicated two areas which are ultrabasic and carrying strong anomalous nickel and copper values The company said in its quarterly report to June 30 that the values obtained indicate sulphide mineralisation. The best known area AAA, has an indicated strike length of about 1800 ft with an average width of 10ft and a maximum width of 40ft. The second area, 888, has a strike length of 600 ft, the width of this structure appears to be slightly less than the AAA structure.
The company’s consultants, Burril and Associates, have said that the two structures should be tested by diamond drilling. This will be done in this quarter. Surface samples in the southern and central areas of the Narndee prospect have shown values ranging from 1250 to 3400 p.p.m. copper, 115 to 145 p.pun. zinc, 2600 to 7700 p.pjn. nickel and 250 to 840 p.p.m. cobalt. The report says that “very interesting” anomalies have been located, and drilling will be carried out to test these areas..
The company’s geophysicists say these mineral claims have a high economic potential.
