Erskine Fellow Starts Visit

The geography department of the University of Canterbury had an outstanding reputation and had done a lot of work in the field of applied geography relating to town and country planning, Professor M. J. Wise, professor of geography at the London School of Economics and professor of economics and political science at the University of London, said yesterday. An Erskine Fellow, Professor Wise, who arrived last Friday, will be in New Zealand until the middle of September. He is attached to the geography department at the University of Canterbury at the invitation of the department.

Professor Wise said that he was studying the reports of the physical environment conference held in Wellington tn May, and he hoped to find out a good deal about New Zealand's attitude to | environmental management
