BUILDING PERMITS
ss6m Increase In Year (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 9 The value of building permits issued this year until the end of May was ss6m more than at the same time last year, the Department of Statistics revealed today. The value of permits issued to the year ended May, 1970, was $467m, compared with $410.6m for the year ended May, 1969. For the month of May, 1970, permits for building were issued to the value of $35.9m, compared with $32.2m in May, 1969. The permits issued for new houses and flats showed a slight decrease in number this year. Permits were issued for 1987 new bouses and flats with an aggregate value of $17.4m in May, 1970, compared with 2032 permits with a value of sl7m in May, 1969. Dwellings demolished totalled 218 this May, compared with 162 in May, 1969, and 140 in May, 1968.
