Grand Prix Cancelled

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) NUERBURGRING.

The German Grand Prix, scheduled for August 2, was cancelled yesterday after a threatened boycott by Formula I drivers. The decision was reached after talks between G. Hill (Britain) and this year’s world championship leader, J. Rindt (Austria), representing the drivers, and the Automobile Club of Germany, organisers of the annual event.

The drivers said they would not take part in the race unless the tortuous circuit was made safer. A spokesman for the organisers said it would not be possible to implement the Safety demands before August 2 and therefore the race had been cancelled.
