Ship Sinks In Channel

A Liberian-registered freighter sank after a collision with- another vessel in the English Channel today, and a Greek tanker was sinking in a second separate collision according to coastguards’ reports. The 607-ton Ingkabir, flying a Liberian flag but carrying a Dutch crew, was reported to have sunk about 10 miles off the southern English coast after a collision with the 4059 ton East German vessel Rugen. All crew members of the Ingkabir were picked up, except for one man. In the second collision, 20 miles north of Calais, the 10,160 ton Greek tanker Kavo Kossonas was reported sinking after colliding with the Liberian-registered Parnassos (8184 tons). The Parnassos reported that she was holed, and taking in water.
