FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation.—A large, slow-moving anticyclone extends on to New Zealand. Forecast:

Canterbury and the Kaikoura Coast.— Light to moderate south-westerlies near the coast; variable winds elsewhere; cloudy and cold.

Nelson and Marlborough, including the Sounds.—Moderate southerlies; cloudy and rather cold.

Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate easterlies; fine after morning fog patches; cold.

Outlook: fine on the West Coast; cloudy elsewhere.
