Hurunui Cheviot, leader of the Hurunui Rugby competition, was beaten for the first time this season in Saturday s sixth - round matches. Waiau caused the upset by bustling Cheviot into errors with close marking and fierce tackling. United had a comfortable win against Culverden and Hanmer Springs was beaten by Kaikoura. Results. Waiau 6, Cheviot 3; United 22, Culverden 3; Kaikoura 53, Hanmer 3. North Canterbury Glenmark has opened a twopoint lead in the North Canterbury competitions from two teams, Kaiapoi and Rangiora. Glenmark did not have an entirely convincing win against Oxford: Kowai notched its first victory of the season and has risen from last equal place to fourth equal. Results: Glenmark 9.
