TROTTING Lee Frost In Smart Addington Trial

A solid run by the Southland two-year-old, Lee Frost, and sound efforts by Royal Deeside, Refluent, Fallout and Great Faith marked training at Addington Raceway yesterday morning.

The weather was fine, but cold, with the track in splendid order. Later a heavy fog blanketed the c o u r s.e, reducing visibility to less than 100 yards and making it impossible to carry out sectional timing. Lee Frost and Dollar Man were among the early workers. They were pacing strongly at the finish of 10 furlongs in 2min 43 3-ssec. the last half-mile in Imin 5 1- and the final quarter; in 31 l-ssec. Lee Frost made ground fori sixth in the Oarnaru Juvenile] Stakes when having his first [ attempt against some of the better Canterbury two-year-1 olds. He will contest the! Canterbury Park Juveile Stakes on Saturday and in; spite of his handicap of 12 1 yards, will be one of the; better prospects. He is them booked to contest the New Zealand Sapling Stakes a week later. Dollar Man has a rather weak form background, but he could show up in the Farewell Stakes on Saturday, a race which could prove to be among his last in New Zealand. He has been sold to the: United States, subject to a satisfactory veterinary inspection. Splendid Run Royal Deeside, assisted by a galloping pacemaker, was untroubled to record 3min 17 2- for 12 furlongs, the last half mile in Imin 2 3-ssec, and 1 the final quarter in 30sec, a, particularly smart run. Royal Deeside was eliminated from the Canterbury Park Juvenile Stakes in spite of having recorded 2min 42 3-5 i sec for 10 furlongs when he finished a good fourth to: New Law at last week's Addington trials. That time has been bettered by only six winners in 28 contests for the New Zealand Welcome Stakes. Royal Deeside is in the New Zealand Sapling Stakes, but his chances of securing a start there are not considered good. Too Good Refluent was too good for Boy Logan over 12 furlongs in 3min 16sec. the last half-mile in Imin' 6 l-ssec, and the final quarter; in 33sec. They sped over their: opening quarter in 31 2-ssec.[. Refluent is to race at Ashbur-i ton. Nelson and Rangiora. She;: has freshened well in the last; fortnight and looks ready to! show form at short notice. | Fallout was pacing easily; alongside Whippy, Golden! Splendour, Restabell and Willow; Brae at the end of 12 furlongs in 3min 27sec. They had the pace on only over the last three furlongs and returned 29sec for their , final quarter, the best of I the morning. Fallout, an 11-year-old, is in the Farewell Stakes on Satur-j

(day. If she races with the samel' ’ dash that she showed in trainL ing yesterday, she could surI*! Flying Tutta and Great Faith I {went over 10 furlongs from be--1 hind the mobile barrier. They r| finished together, with Great ('Faith going particularly well, after returning 2min 46sec, the . last half-mile in Imin 6sec, and! 'the final quarter in 31sec. time; 11 which was equalled over the} 'opening two furlongs. Great : Faith is racing much better! I than his record suggests. He I’could show up in the May . Stakes on Saturday. r Flying Tutta was driven by ’ his part-owner, C. H. G. Irvine, ) but on Saturday he will probably be handled by D. J. Townj ley. He looks well and could • show up on the roomy grass '[tracks he will compete on after [the Addington meeting. Start Available J Dieman Lad and Good Scotch ’finished together at the end of •'any easy 12 furlongs in 3min • |3ssec. They had the pace on jlover the final quarter, but '■could not be timed because of •jfog. Dieman Lad is in the l .reserve list in the Second L. S. [[Smart Stakes on Saturday, buti ihe will secure a start as Plat-[ 'form is not starting. i 1 Good Scotch was eliminated from both the Oarnaru and Tiinaru meetings. He is entered for the Ashburton meeting. Aerial Morn and Della Cree ■ recoraed 3min 25 l-ssec for , their 12 furlongs, the last halfmile in Imin 6 2-ssec. and the ‘ final quarter in 31 2-ssec. Aerial ; Morn should not be long ex- , tending his record. Our Conga and Stormy Light ‘ finished ahead of Avondale at iltne end of 12 furlongs in fog iin 3min 31sec. '
