Pay Rise For Drivers
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, April 23. A wage increase of $3.02 a week has been given to some passenger transport drivers in an award issued today by the Court of Arbitration.
The award does not cover the public transport authorities involved in the present dispute. It covers all other drivers except those employed by the Eastbourne, Wellington, Borough Council, those within a 25-mile radius of Auckland, and those covered by other awards. The new minimum award rate is $40.40 a week. A service allowance for continuous service with the same employer is a new provision.
The award will come into force on April 27.
