Parliament’s Diary
Debate on. the State Advances Amendment Billtook most of the afternoon when Parliament resumed yesterday. The State Advances Corporation Amendment Bill, the Apprentices Amendment Bill, the Marine Reserves Bill, the Social Security Amendment Bill, and the Hospitals Amendment Bill were each read a first time.
Because of the lengthy discussion on the introduction of these bills, which involved one division narrowly won by the Government, no questions were asked.
At 7.45 p.m., the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) opened a foreign affairs debate. The debate continued until the House rose at 10.30 p.m.
