j Soviet Refusal Of Letter ‘ (N.Z. Press Association) j WELLINGTON, April 5. More than 80 Jews marched on the Russian Legation in Wellington today. The Jews, attending a Zionist conference in the capital, were protesting against the Soviet Government’s policy of not allowing Jews to leave Russia and go to Israel. The marchers carried placards and sang Hebrew songs. They tried to make an official accept a letter addressed to the Russian Minister. The official refused the letter and requested that the protesters mail it to the Legation. The march was led by a rabbi; those taking part ranged in age from 17 to 70.
